Mother's Day Weekend

This past weekend was Mother's Day incase anyone missed it. HA! As I've gotten older (read: much wiser and more mature) I'm learning to lower my expectations for my birthday and now Mother's day. I'm not sure if Matt agrees with this or not, but I'm trying non the less.

The weather this past weekend was beautiful! Saturday we spent the morning at the Farmer's Market mostly just walking around and eating apple cider donuts. We headed home for lunch and nap time followed by Saturday night service at our church. I snuck out of the service early to meet up with some of my MOPS friends to see the movie "Mom's Night Out." We all had a really good laugh, and were able to spend some kid-free quality time together. I am so blessed by the group of friends that God has placed in my life and that I'm able to share the good, the bad, and the ugly with. Check out MOPS if you've never heard of it.

Sunday morning I was able to sleep in, and was presented with beautiful homemade cards and my first pair of diamond earrings (makes me feel like an official adult or something). Later we ate lunch at Dunn Brothers for my favorite crepes from The Crepe Guy. Usually eating out with two little people can be really stressful, but it was like the heavens parted and everyone cooperated for the most part. It really helped that they had a little corner for kids filled with trains and diggers. Noah LOVES diggers, like more than me I think, or at least that's what he says when I ask. We spent dinner celebrating Mother's Day and my dad's birthday at 11th St. which meant I didn't have to cook or do anyone's dishes that day! Success!

The whole weekend was pretty low key, and it was perfect. No big plans and no big expectations to be met. Motherhood is without a doubt the hardest, most tiring thing I've ever done. But these two people bring me the most joy in life, and I am so grateful I get to call them mine and spend my days watching them grow.
